Where our plant data comes from
SimplePlant's plant pages merge open datasets into one record per species. Every field keeps its source, licence and version.
World Flora Online Plant List

All of it is dedicated to the public domain (CC0). We don't copy Wikipedia text. Photos come from Wikimedia Commons, iNaturalist and Pl@ntNet (through GBIF) only under CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA, each with its author, licence and a link to its source. We keep a resized copy of each so pages load fast, with the same credit. We show toxicity only where a source states it, and name that source.
Plant places and maps
Our plant places and maps are built from these sources and checked before they list; guides are written from each place's own sources and reviewed against them by a second model.
OpenStreetMap
Where plant places are, what kind of place each is, their official sites, and the coastline and park outlines our maps are drawn from. We keep only the names, coordinates, ids and links we need.

Wikidata
Gardens, parks and preserves near each city, with their coordinates and official sites.

iNaturalist
What's blooming at a place: research-grade plant observations within 2 km in the last 30 days. Every photo is credited to its observer under its licence and links to the observation.
Licence: Each photo under its observer's licence: CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA only
Google Places
Opening hours and addresses on place pages come live from Google, marked “Powered by Google”. We keep only Google's place id, never its reviews or photos, and we don't use Google maps.
